Following the phenomenal success of the first Kantara, the new chapter has struck gold at the global box office, grossing Rs 427.5 crore within six days. Rooted in the folklore and divine traditions of coastal Karnataka, the film beautifully explores the eternal bond between humans and nature.

“This story is born from our soil from the folklore, the tribes, and the worship of deities in coastal Karnataka,” said Shetty. “Once again, this success proves that regional can also be universal.”

Storytelling from the Heart

Set in pre-colonial Karnataka during the Kadamba dynasty, the film portrays a gripping clash between the tribals of Kantara forest and a tyrannical king. Released in seven languages, it has earned praise for staying true to its cultural essence.

Shetty, who also wrote, directed, produced, and acted in the film, credited the entire team from crew members to co-stars Jayaram and Gulshan Devaiah, for their collective passion and effort.
