Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar has not only dominated the box office but also sparked conversations well beyond cinema halls. As the film races towards the ₹550 crore mark, its music has emerged as one of its biggest talking points- right from Akshaye Khanna’s explosive entry track ‘FA9LA’ to the widely celebrated ‘Shararat’.

While fans continue to decode every detail of the blockbuster, a recent revelation has added a fascinating layer to the film’s musical journey.
A Casting Choice That Almost Changed ‘Shararat’
Choreographed by Vijay Ganguly, ‘Shararat’ features Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza and has gained immense popularity across platforms. The song’s viral appeal recently peaked when international pop star Nick Jonas was spotted grooving to it, leaving social media buzzing. However, what many didn’t know is that Tamannaah Bhatia was originally envisioned for the song.
Why Aditya Dhar Said No to Tamannaah?
In a candid conversation with Filmygyan, Vijay Ganguly revealed that while Tamannaah was his first choice, director Aditya Dhar had a very different vision for the track. "In my head, she was (the one). I had suggested her, but Aditya was very clear that he did not want what people call an item song, something that went out of the story. If it were just about one girl, it would have taken attention away from the story," said Ganguly.
Two Performers, One Narrative Focus
Elaborating further, Ganguly explained why ‘Shararat’ ultimately featured two performers instead of centring on a single star presence.
“That's why there are two girls, not one. He didn't want the attention to be about this one person. If it were Tamannaah, it would've been about her and not the story," revealed Ganguly.
He also added, "Jo ho raha tha film mein, there was a lot going on, and if you go away from the story, then the song is just a cut-to song."
The decision, according to the choreographer, was rooted entirely in protecting the film’s narrative flow.
Dhurandhar’s Historic Box Office Run
Even as such behind-the-scenes stories surface, Dhurandhar continues its unstoppable march at the box office. The film has emerged as the second fastest Indian movie to cross the ₹500 crore domestic milestone, achieving the feat in just 16 days.
It currently trails only Pushpa 2, which reached the mark in 11 days. Among Hindi films, Dhurandhar has rewritten records by surpassing Jawan, which took 18 days to enter the elite club. Notably, the film has remained unfazed by competition from major Hollywood releases like Avatar: Fire and Ash.
