“There Is a Difference Between Using and Abusing Technology”
In her note, Sreeleela stressed that technological advancement should make human life easier, not more distressing. She appealed to users to understand the fine line between ethical use and misuse of AI. According to her, such tools should never be used in ways that harm or violate an individual’s dignity.
She also highlighted that women in the entertainment industry deserve the same respect and safety as anyone else. “Every girl out there is a daughter, granddaughter, sister, friend or colleague, even if she chooses art as one of her professions,” she wrote, underlining that no one deserves to have their images misused or morphed.
“Deeply Disturbing and Devastating”
The actress shared that she was initially unaware of the content circulating online due to her packed work schedule and thanked her well-wishers for bringing it to her attention. While she usually ignores online chatter, Sreeleela admitted that this incident had affected her deeply.
Calling the situation “disturbing and devastating,” she said she was also speaking on behalf of fellow colleagues who have faced similar issues. With grace and dignity, she requested her audience to stand by artists and support them against such violations.
Later, Sreeleela added in a comment that speaking publicly about the issue made her uncomfortable, but she hoped it would serve a larger purpose.
Police Complaint Filed
Confirming the seriousness of the matter, Sreeleela revealed that she has filed a police complaint and that authorities will now take the issue forward.
