Yami Gautam’s courtroom drama Haq continues to win hearts long after its release, with praise pouring in from across the film fraternity. The latest and perhaps most heartfelt appreciation has come from actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who lauded the film for its emotional depth, humanity, and lack of judgment.

Samantha’s Emotional Reaction to Haq

Taking to Instagram Stories, Samantha shared an impassioned note moments after finishing the film. She wrote that she felt compelled to express her emotions immediately, fearing she might lose even “a fraction” of what the film made her feel. Calling Haq “deeply human,” “layered,” and “free of judgment or bias,” Samantha highlighted how rare such stories are in cinema today.

She reserved special praise for Yami Gautam, describing her as an actor of exceptional calibre who brings the story alive with sensitivity and restraint. Samantha’s words struck a chord with fans, further amplifying the conversation around the film’s powerful narrative.

Samantha went on to reflect on why films like Haq reaffirm her love for cinema. She wrote that this is the kind of storytelling that reminds artists why they continue to choose this path through every high and low. Expressing gratitude, she described the film as a true example of what cinema should stand for—honest, brave, and emotionally resonant.

Industry-Wide Appreciation Grows

Samantha’s praise joins a growing list of admirers from the industry. Earlier, Saba Pataudi, Alia Bhatt, and filmmaker Karan Johar also applauded the film and Yami’s performance, with many calling it among the finest female performances in recent years.  

Sharing a detailed note on Instagram, Karan admitted regretting not watching the film in theatres and said the story of Shazia Bano left him in tears. He described Yami’s performance as “pathbreaking” and a masterclass in restraint and conviction.

Karan also praised Emraan Hashmi, calling Haq the finest performance of his career, and applauded Suparn Verma’s assured direction and the film’s emotionally driven storytelling.
