On the first day of this new year, Samantha Akkineni surprised her fans pleasantly when she shared a teaser of director Gunashekar’s upcoming film, Shakuntalam. She will be playing the lead of the mythological film which is based on the character of Shakunthala from the Mahabharata epic.
Taking to her Instagram account, Sam shared the teaser where we can see a peacock flying over a river, and then a mesmerizing woman in a saree appears. According to a source close to Cinema Express, “The plot is based upon a love affair, a secret marriage, separation of imprecation and reunion of the immortal love of Dushyanta and Shakuntala”.
However, there was buzz that Pooja Hedge was approached for this role earlier which she turned down. He stated that she didn’t want to play a mother during her up-and-coming career.
Meanwhile, Samantha Akkineni is all set to enter the OTT platform with The Family Man 2 starring Manoj Bajpayee. Apart from this, she will be seen with Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal.
