As fans are eagerly waiting for the next directorial venture of Baahubali fame SS Rajamouli, the craze surrounding the period drama ‘RRR’ featuring Jr NTR and Rajamouli has reached to its peak.
With the film scheduled to hit the big screen on October 13, during the Dussehra weekend, the makers are reportedly getting exorbitant offers from distributors for the theatrical rights.
According to the latest update, Lyca Productions has bought the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of RRR for a whopping amount of Rs 42 crore. However, it failed to break the Baahubali: The Conclusion record, which was sold at Rs 47 crore in Tamil Nadu. The Lyca Productions is known for producing and distributing Tamil movies like Vada Chennai, Darbar, 2.0 and other big budget entertainers.
The Baahubali franchise marked a new era in the Indian cinema and broke box-offices record not just in India but also internationally. So, it was expected that Rajamouli's next venture, RRR, would surpass the Bahubali franchise. However, Rajamouli was unable to break his own record that he created for Baahubali in terms of pre release business.
RRR, produced by DVV Danayya, is a patriotic period drama based on the lives of two legendary freedom fighters Alluri Seetharama Raju played by Ram Charan and Komaram Bheem played by Jr NTR. The film also stars Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, and Olivia Morris in pivotal roles.
