Raju Hirani to be honoured with Nag Bhushan award

Nagpur: Noted Bollywood director Rajkumar Hirani will be presented with the `Nag Bhushan` award here for outstanding contribution to the film industry and bringing repute to the city.

Hirani will be honoured on December 12 at the Deshpande hall here by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, BJP National President Nitin Gadkari, State Rural Development Minister, Jayant Patil and Minister of State for Home Satej Patil will also be present on the occasion, Nag Bhushan Foundation President, Prabhakarrao Mundle and Secretary Girish Gandhi told reporters.

The award winning director was born in Nagpur and studied here before joining the Film and Television Institute of India at Pune. The award carries Rs one lakh and shawl and memento.

Gadkari, Buddhist monk Bhante Surai Sasai, noted literary figure Ram Shewalkar, Prakash and his wife Manda Amte, Mahesh Elkunchwar and Poet Grace are among the earlier recipients of the award.
