Hyderabad got its youngest-ever Collector after the Telangana government appointed Anudeep Durishetty, a 2018-batch IAS officer, as Hyderabad Collector and district magistrate, relieving Amoy Kumar from the Full Additional Charge (FAC) of the post.

This appointment marks a unique occurrence, as it is perhaps the first time that an IAS officer with just five years of service is being posted as Collector of the Hyderabad district, reported Hello Scholar.

For unversed, Durishetty was an all-India topper in the 2018 Civil Services examinations and had been invited along with his parents by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for lunch at Pragathi Bhavan in 2018. KCR had hailed Anudeep as a role model for many youths in the State.

Earlier, Anudeep was posted as the District Collector of Bhadradri Kothagudem.

According to a DNA  report, Anudeep Durishetty is a native of Metpally town in Jagatyal in Telangana. He pursued engineering in Electronics & Instrumentation from BITS Pilani after completion of his schooling from Sri Suryodaya High School and Sri Chaitanya Junior College.

After this, he appeared for the UPSC exam. However, he could not get through the personality test round even if he had cleared the IAS mains exam in 2012.

Later, he joined Google where he worked as a software engineer and continued his IAS preparations, which he admits to be a little demanding.

In 2013 he appeared again for UPSC and was selected for the Indian Revenue Service.

However, he wanted to become IAS and continued his preparations but his attempts to crack the UPSC exam in 2014 and 2015 failed to bear fruits. Without being disheartened about his failures, Anudeep Durishetty decided to give it one more try and in 2017 he was declared UPSC topper. Durishetty was working as an Assistant Commissioner (Customs & Indirect Taxes) in Hyderabad at that time.

Notably, Anudeep did not join any formal coaching classes and relied on the Internet for guidance. He did most of his studies on the weekends and was able to successfully clear the UPSC with fly colours after three failed attempts.
