Odisha Vigilance arrests assistant executive engineer after deposits worth over Rs 1 crore, 18 plots detected

A day after unearthing huge assets, the Vigilance Officials on Wednesday arrested  Biswanath Patro, the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) posted at Jeypore Block. He was also the in-charge  Municipal Engineer of  Jeypore Municipality in Koraput.

As per official sources, Patra has been placed under arrest in disproportionate assets (DA) case.

Earlier, simultaneous searches were conducted on the properties linked to Patra on Tuesday at multiple locations.

Based on searches conducted, Patro was found in possession of disproportionate assets comprising two multi-storeyed buildings including 1 triple storeyed building at Jeypore town worth approximately Rs.1.55 crore, 18 plots, deposits over Rs.1.01 crore, gold  854 gms, silver 1.8 kg and valuables which he could not explain satisfactorily.

Subsequently, the Assistant Executive Engineer has been placed under arrest and will be produced before the Court for possession of disproportionate assets. 

The Koraput Vigilance has registered a case Patro and further investigation in this connection is underway, the officials said in a release.
