Tulasi Gananatya owner Anant Narayan Dhal, popularly known as Nandu Babu, finds himself at the centre of controversy once again as a new accusation has surfaced against him.

Mamuni Sarangi, an actress associated with Dhal's ‘Ashok Samrat’ jatra party, has lodged an FIR at Mahila Police Station in Bhubaneswar, alleging that she was assaulted by the party's owner Dhal and three others.

According to the complainant, the incident transpired following her request for payment of the outstanding dues owed to her.

Mamuni, along with her husband Bapi Panda, have further accused party owner Dhal of orchestrating an attack on them at Baliapal jatra camp. The couple also alleged that they faced threats, including intimidation to set their vehicle alight.

These accusations add to past allegations, as comedian Nari Panda had previously reported similar issues involving Dhal.

“I am yet to get my payment of Rs 7 lakh. When I asked him (Dhal) for payment, he denied. Later his nephew sent me Rs 20,000 and promised to pay the rest amount later. Though some members of a committee misbehaved and assaulted me and my husband, the managers of the party didn't do anything. When I called Nandu Babu and told about the incident he abused me with bad language and said that the committee members assaulted me with his insistence. He also threatened me to assault me further and set my vehicle alight,” Mamuni Sarangi alleged.

Owner Denies Allegations

In response, Dhal has denied the accusations against him, asserting that the situation was merely an altercation with the committee without any physical assault.

“She (Mamuni) had an altercation with the committee. Her payment has been made and her allegations are false and baseless,” said Dhal.

The allegations are reminiscent of previous complaints lodged against Dhal, which brings to light ongoing tensions within the jatra community.
