Drishyam director Nishikant Kamat died today in a local hospital in Hyderabad. The AIG Hospital released a statement related to it some time ago confirming the same. According to the statement, the actor and director succumbed to multiple organ failure.

Actor Riteish Deshmukh confirmed this news with his latest tweet. The actor wrote, "I will miss you, my friend. Rest in Peace."

Earlier in the day, the rumor about Nishikant's death went adrift. However, the Housefull 4 actor stated that Nishikant was alive and on a ventilator.

Just a day ago the hospital in Hyderabad came out with a statement regarding the health of Nishikant Kamat. The statement said, "Mr. Nishikant Kamat (50 years, male) was brought to AIG hospitals, Gachibowli, Hyderabad on 31st July with jaundice and abdominal distention. He has been diagnosed with Chronic Liver Disease and other secondary infections. He is in the Intensive Care Unit for continuous monitoring under the supervision of a multi-disciplinary team of senior consultants comprising of gastroenterologists, hepatologists, critical care, and others. His condition is critical but stable.”

Bollywood stars, fans, and supporters are sharing condolence messages now after the confirmation of Nishikant's death. Randeep Hooda penned, "Farewell Nishi!! You lived and died by what you decided you loved more than anything else .. I’m sure you had no regrets about much .. thank you for all the movies, all the fun stories, warmth, and smiles."

In a career of almost 18 years, Nishikant directed many hit projects. He also acted in a few Marathi and Hindi movies. Apart from Drishyam, he also directed Irrfan Khan's Maddari. He joined John Abraham's Force and Rocky Handsome as an actor. Additionally, Nishikant also directed R Madhavan, Irrfan Khan and Soha Ali Khan movie Mumbai Meri Jaan.

As an actor Nishikant Kamat has done projects like Hava Aney De, Saatchya Aat Gharat, 404 Error Not Found, Fugay, Daddy, Julie 2, and Bhavesh Joshi Superhero. He also worked as a creative producer of The Final Call and Rangbaaz Phir Se for Zee5. Importantly, the actor-director was mostly known for picturizing the life and challenges of a common man. Everyone loved the way he depicted 'Marathi Manus' in his movies.
