Finally, the long wait for the hard-hitting cop movie series Mardaani 3 fans is over. The makers have decided to advance the film’s release, bringing the action-thriller to theatres earlier than planned. It will now hit cinemas on January 30, 2026, instead of the previously scheduled February 27 release.

Just after the announcement, on the 12th of January, Yash Raj Films released the suspenseful trailer, which gave the viewers a sneak peek into the most dangerous mission of ACP Shivani Shivaji Roy.

A Race Against Time in the Dark

In the third part, Rani Mukerji returns in her role of ACP Shivani Shivaji Roy , the fearless officer from the Mumbai police. 

The trailer reveals a case that is very creepy and involves the strange disappearance of 93 girls aged between 6 and 15 from different parts of India in the span of just three months.

Time is against Shivani, and she is pulled deeper into an abyss of darkness as she explores the horrors of the underworld with the investigation. This time, the danger has a name — Amma, a powerful and merciless female villain. 

A Formidable Female Villain 

Amma is played by the acclaimed actress Mallika Prasad, who plays a beggar-mafia queen with a larger, sinister motive. Even Shivani goes undercover to get access to her, putting her life and career in dire jeopardy. The intense confrontation between the two powerful women brings in a new and disturbing dimension to the franchise. 

Strong Supporting Cast and Creative Team 

Also starring Janaki Bodiwala in an important role, the screenplay is by Aayush Gupta, who is known for his sharp writing and keeping the audience on the very edge of suspense. The film is directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Aditya Chopra, continuing the franchise’s practice of addressing socially important issues through their movies.

Rani Mukerji on the Film’s Intensity 

Rani Mukerji, while speaking the project, called the film “dark, deadly and brutal”, and went on to say that the team feels a great responsibility to not disappoint the audiences who adore the Mardaani franchise. She wished that the film would be accepted by the audience with the same affection as its former films.
