Controversy over Saat Samundar Paar

The buzz began when the makers unveiled a recreated version of the 1990s hit Saat Samundar Paar as part of the film’s soundtrack. Originally a high-energy anthem from the 1992 film Vishwatma, the song is considered a cult classic and is deeply tied to nostalgia for many fans.

Beyond just audience sentiment, the track has also sparked a legal dispute: Trimurti Films, which owns the rights to the original, has filed a copyright complaint in the Bombay High Court against the film’s producers, including Dharma Productions and music label Saregama, alleging unauthorized use of the classic song.

Many fans argued the slower, softer arrangement failed to capture the vibrant ’90s disco vibe that made Saat Samundar Paar iconic, with some saying remaking such classics was simply unnecessary.

Although Quick Style, the renowned Norwegian dance group, was featured in the new video to bring a global touch, this didn’t quell criticism.

Koki’s unusually slow, restrained dance moves in Saat Samundar 2.0 left netizens unimpressed, with many calling his performance “lifeless” and “awkward,” accusing him of draining the iconic song’s energetic, celebratory vibe.

Nostalgia Ruined!

For many fans, nostalgia isn’t just about music, it’s tied to emotions and memories of an era. The online uproar surrounding Kartik Aaryan’s version highlights how sensitive audiences can be when beloved classics are reimagined. Whether the controversy will impact the overall reception of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri post-release remains to be seen, but one thing is clear, not all remixes are met with festive cheer.
