Karan Johar to launch newcomers in SOTY

Mumbai: Filmmaker Karan Johar plans to launch newcomers Siddharth Malhotra, filmmaker David Dhawan`s son Varun and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt`s daughter Alia in his next directorial venture `Student of The Year`.

"This film is very different from the earlier ones. I have worked with movie stars and they don`t need hand holding. With these three newcomers I was nuturing, parenting them. It was emotional journey," Johar told reporters here during the first look of the film.

The movie which has been co-produced by Shah Rukh Khan is scheduled to be released on October 19. "I am sure the newcomers` parents would also be going through same emotions as I am. It is a very special feeling. It is a satisfying emotion," he said, unveiling the first trailer of the movie here on Thursday.

The film will be Johar`s return to direction after a gap of two years. "I feel this is a holiday film for me after `My Name is Khan`. I personally felt I needed to do something where I could have fun. I like dance, song, glamour and emotions off course. I remember while doing this song `Sajda` from `My Name is Khan` we could not do lip synch. So in this film, I have made all of them sing and dance," he said.
