Once a familiar face in Bollywood’s comedy hits like Phir Hera Pheri, Hungama, and Golmaal, Rimi Sen has now traded film sets for boardrooms. The actress has quietly moved to Dubai to build her real estate business. Yet, even away from cinema, she recently stirred conversation with candid memories of her Dhoom co-star John Abraham during a podcast chat.

Success Begins with Self-Awareness
Talking on Buildcaps, Rimi reflected on what truly shapes a long career. For her, talent isn’t everything - understanding your flaws matters more. She said, “A human being focuses on his positive point, but if someone knows their limitation, that this is my problem, and if they work on that, then that person goes a long way.” It was this mindset, she believes, that defined John’s journey.
The Model Who Stayed Silent
John didn’t enter Bollywood as a trained performer. According to Rimi, his beginnings were far from perfect. “In the beginning of his career, he was a model, he didn’t know how to act, people used to talk. He didn’t say anything,” she added.
Instead of defending himself, he observed, adapted, and let time do the talking.
Smart Choices Over Showy Risks
Rather than jumping into complex roles, John carefully selected parts that suited his persona - strong, stylish, action-heavy characters.
Further, Rimi added, “He picked the type of roles in which he is looking proper, where he doesn’t have to act much, mostly chose action films. He did things that made him look good, so that people can’t question what he was doing. He was a very intelligent actor, I must say.”
His growth was gradual but deliberate.
Learning on the Go
With each film, confidence replaced hesitation. Rimi believes experience itself polished his craft.
“Then, when he gained popularity and people started recognising him, and dheere dheere karte karte insaan acting seekh hi jaata hai,” she said.
She further added, “You gain the experience in front of the camera after a while. After that, he took up roles that give him a chance to act. He was strategically correct, he knew his limitations.”
More Than Just an Actor
Today, John Abraham stands as more than a star - he’s a producer and businessman with credible hits to his name.

“I know him personally and I feel he is a very intelligent actor. He became a businessman, came into production, even gave hit films that have credibility,” said Rimi.
For Rimi Sen, his story isn’t about overnight talent, but about patience, planning, and playing to one’s strengths.
