The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has achieved another milestone with the successful launch of CMS-03, the nation’s heaviest communication satellite to date. This achievement marks a proud leap for India’s technological and scientific capabilities, reinforcing the country’s commitment to advancing space self-reliance.

‘Bahubali’ - The Powerhouse Launch Vehicle
The satellite was carried into orbit aboard ISRO’s most powerful rocket, fondly nicknamed “Bahubali.” The moniker, inspired by SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster franchise, reflects the rocket’s immense power and payload strength - much like the legendary warrior from the film.

Following the successful launch, filmmaker SS Rajamouli took to social media to share his excitement and pride. He wrote, “Congratulations to #ISRO on the successful launch of the heaviest communication satellite CMS-03 today!” (sic)
Rajamouli continued, "A proud moment for India showcasing our technological strength and self-reliance in space exploration. Onwards and upwards! Our entire Baahubali team is elated as @ISRO fondly named this rocket 'Bahubali'.. Due to its heaviness and strength..Truely a privilege for all of us." (sic)
His heartfelt post was soon reshared by Prabhas and Rana Daggubati, the lead actors from the Baahubali films, who joined in celebrating the moment of national pride.
Baahubali: The Epic Continues Its Cinematic Journey
Interestingly, the satellite’s launch coincided with the release of “Baahubali: The Epic,” a newly remastered film that merges both parts of the saga into a single cinematic experience. The film includes restored scenes, updated visuals, and technical enhancements, and is screening in premium formats like IMAX, 4DX, Dolby Cinema, D-Box, and EPIQ across multiple languages - Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam.
According to early box-office reports from Sacnilk, Baahubali: The Epic opened to strong numbers, grossing Rs 10.8 crore on Day 1 (including Rs 1.15 crore from paid previews), followed by Rs 7 crore on Day 2 and Rs 4.75 crore on Day 3 across India.
