‘Ishq Tu Hi Tu’ completes 50 days
Bhubaneswar: Tarang Cine Productions’ introductory venture ‘Ishq Tu Hi Tu’ today completed consecutive 50 days of running on a single screen at Jayashree Talkies in Cuttack where the film was premiered. The movie, released simultaneously at 60 theatres across the State on January 14 this year, has received tremendous response from the cine-goers.
Talking about the grand success of the movie, Jayshree Talkies manager Rajendra Kumar Lenka said, “The film has successfully completed 50 days at our cinema and we hope the screening will continue for a few weeks more due to good public demand. Apart from performance of the actors, the audience really liked the film’s music and storyline.”
The movie has been directed by Tapas Sargharia while Abhijit Mazumdar is its music director and Bharadwaj Panda has scripted the dialogues. Arindam and new comer Elina have played the lead pair in the film while other prominent actors are Mihir Das, Minaketan, Samaresh and Priyanka, among others.
College-goers Swadhin (Arindam), a Hindu Bramhin boy, and Simran (Elina), a Muslim girl, fall in love due to their common interest – music. But they hardly know what the future holds for them as their families are poles apart due to different religions.
Set in the period when Hindu-Muslim communal riots had left Bhadrak district, especially Dhamnagar area, blood-shocked way back in 1991, the movie is based on a strong storyline which has gone down with the viewers and critics as well.
Arindam in a role of Hindu Bramhin boy was okay, but a better acting prowess could be expected considering the number of films he has already done till date. He looks and sounds too flimsy in few scenes as he is yet to master the art of getting into the skin of the character.
Whereas newbie Elina as a Muslim girl is still likeable and shows promise with her beautiful screen presence in her first Ollywood outing. Her performance as a debutante has earned her some laurels from the viewers and in the industry.
One actor who takes the cake is Minaketan, who has played a failed lover-turned-poet. He wins hearts every time he appears on screen in the whole movie. Priyanka has played her mother role well and evergreen actress Aparajita has also done justice to her sister act.
Lyrics penned by Nirmal Nayak and music by Abhijit Mazumdar compliment well to the narration of the film, especially the title track ‘Ishq hai maula maula…’ which is quite soothing and touching. Similarly, the camera works are absolutely up to the mark and captured the tone of the tale beautifully.
A plot hardly explored in Ollywood and the oven-fresh pair (Arindam-Elina) makes ‘Ishq Tu Hi Tu’ quite a watchable flick. And, kudos to Tarang Cine Productions for launching a new face (Elina) with zero acting skill, as it takes a lot to give a chance to a newcomer. Grabbing the opportunity, she proved that she is more than just a ‘pretty face’.
