Post-production in Full Swing
According to an exclusive report by Hindustan Times, the actor’s comeback film - co-starring Bhumi Pednekar - is steadily moving toward completion.
A source close to the production revealed, “The shoot of the film got wrapped up in August, it is now in post production. The makers are hoping to lock the edit by December, and release early 2026.”
While the team is targeting an early 2026 release, there’s still one crucial factor in play - Netflix.
“That's all dependent on Netflix, so one will have to wait for them to commit to a date. Nothing happens until seven layers of corporate executives have signed off,” the source added.
A Reunion of Friends - Imran and Danish Aslam
The yet-untitled project marks Imran’s reunion with filmmaker Danish Aslam, a long-time friend. Their collaboration is said to revisit the lighthearted, feel-good energy that once defined Imran’s signature screen persona.
The film is expected to belong to the romantic-comedy genre - a space where the actor has previously shined with hits like Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (2008), Break Ke Baad (2010), and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011).
From Boy-Next-Door to Comeback Star
Imran Khan first won over audiences with his charming debut in Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, a film that became a defining rom-com of its decade. Over the years, he delivered several memorable performances - from I Hate Luv Storys (2010) to Delhi Belly (2011) - solidifying his image as the quintessential “boy-next-door.”
However, after Katti Batti (2015), Imran stepped away from acting. By 2020, reports suggested he had “quit acting,” choosing to focus on personal pursuits and creative work behind the camera instead.
Fans Await the Big Return
With his comeback now inching closer to reality, excitement among fans is at an all-time high. The anticipation surrounding this project isn’t just about nostalgia - it’s about seeing whether Imran Khan, the actor who once redefined charm in Bollywood rom-coms, can recapture that same spark on screen.
