‘It was really bad’: Ibrahim Reflects on Trolls and Backlash

Opening up about the harsh criticism he faced, Ibrahim admitted, "Not too long ago, they were all waiting for my launch, and after Nadaaniyan, the hype has dropped real bad. They’ve trolled me nonstop. ‘He won’t be able to do it only.’ It’s a massive low… and I constantly feel bad about it. I’m just gonna go on record and say that it was a really bad film."

The young actor also shared how trolling became a trend. "It was really bad. It became a sort of culture to, ‘Oh, let’s troll that film’. There were people who were trolling it just because they heard that some other person was trolling it. That’s uncalled for, but if I now give a blockbuster in the future, I want the same kind of response. They should go mad after me," said the starkid.

About Nadaaniyan

Directed by Shauna Gautam and produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra under Dharmatic Entertainment, Nadaaniyan is a teen romantic comedy. The film features Khushi Kapoor, Mahima Chaudhry, Suniel Shetty, Dia Mirza, and Jugal Hansraj in pivotal roles.

Ibrahim’s Upcoming Projects

After Nadaaniyan, Ibrahim appeared in Kayoze Irani’s Sarzameen alongside Kajol and Prithviraj Sukumaran. He will next be seen in Diler, directed by Kunal Deshmukh, where Sreeleela is reportedly playing the female lead.

Ibrahim On Diler

Helmed by Jannat director Kunal Deshmukh, Diler serves as Ibrahim Ali Khan’s much-anticipated big-screen debut. Unlike his earlier ventures, the young actor reveals that this time, he has been far more involved in the creative process and decision-making.

Signalling a shift in mindset, Ibrahim told Esquire India, “I’ve really sat on the script this time around. Kunal Deshmukh sir is a really experienced director. He’s very good and can present me well. I’m not taking shots at my previous directors, but the truth is that they are also first-time filmmakers. You have to think about that.”

Confident in his abilities, Ibrahim doesn’t hesitate to assert his belief in himself. “We’re on the backfoot right now, but I know how to act- it might be a cocky thing to say but some people have it, and some don’t,” he admitted.
