Mumbai: Actor Ranvir Shorey, who is known for his power-packed performances in films like `Khosla Ka Ghosla`, `Mithya`, says he is still not getting the kind of roles and attention that he should.

Shorey made his debut in Bollywood in 2002 with `Ek Chhotisi Love Story`, but fame arrived with `Khosla Ka Ghosla` (2006), `Bheja Fry` (2007).

"I started off not wanting to be an actor, but to be a filmmaker. So acting happened to me by chance. To be called a good actor is my due considering that I never wanted to be an actor. But now that you are in the game I still feel there is so much more I can do than I am being offered or getting a chance in terms of how I am cast, how my films are projected or marketed," Ranvir Shorey told PTI in an interview.

"I feel I am not getting the kind of roles I would like and I am definitely not getting attention," he said.

Shorey has also done supporting roles in a number of high-profile films like `Jism`, `Lakshya`, `Singh Is King`, `Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd`, `Traffic Signal` and Yashraj`s `Aaja Nachle`.

"It is not like I don`t want to do lead roles in the mainstream films with big budget films, but nobody wants to cast me there. They want to cast me only in supporting roles, maybe because I started off that way. But there are other braver people like Rajat Kapoor, who managed to give me lead role like in `Ugly Aur Pagli`. There are people who have had that kind of faith in me to ride that kind of money on me. Hope more filmmakers will take a chance," Shorey said.

The actor has four to five films that have not yet been released and one of those films up for release is Rajat Kapoor`s `Fatso`.

`Fatso` is co-produced by Pritish Nandy Communications and Daily Multimedia Ltd and the romantic comedy also features Gul Panag and Purab Kohli. The film releases on May 4.

For this film, Ranvir had to gain over 15 to 18 kilos of weight, which was a difficult task.

"Rajat (director) wanted me to be fat and I am a skinny guy, so for me to put on was sort of difficult. I had to put on 15 to 18 kilos. I was like 72 and went on till over 82. From 80 onwards I had to struggle. And it was hard. Initially it was needed to gain the weight as we couldn`t afford prosthetics make up around chin, neck and arms. It was quite hard," Shorey said.

"For a thin guy to play a fat guy, it is once in a lifetime opportunity. As far as losing weight was concerned I am a thin guy, so losing was not that hard. I have lost 15 kilos as of now," he said.
