Cuttack: The Barabati Stadium was filled with energetic cheers and chants of ‘Bhaijaan’ as Bollywood heartthrob Salman Khan took the stage during the Men’s Hockey World Cup celebrations in Cuttack on Wednesday night.
Besides, the musical renditions by Oscar winner AR Rahman left more than 30,000 people at the iconic stadium awestruck. The music maestro’s ‘Nadan Parindey Ghar Aja’, ‘Muqabala Muqabala’, ‘Dil Se’, ’Hamma Hamma’ and ‘Jai Hind Hind Jai India’, the official song of the World Cup mesmerised the crowd.
The entire atmosphere at the stadium was charged up as Salman greeted his fans in Odia, “Namaskar. Mu tumaku bhala paaye. Bali yatra kemiti chalichi? Jai Jagannath.”
Salman also praised Cuttack for the brotherhood between Hindus and Muslims in the Millennium city and expressed his wish to taste the famous Cuttack special ‘Aloo Dum’ and ‘Dahi Bara’.
Further, the superstar also heaped praises on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for maintaining a simple life. “I heard the Chief Minister has four pairs of ‘Pyjama’ and two pairs of ‘Kolapuri chappal’. I am really impressed with his lifestyle,” said Salman.
The ’Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ star also sang the famous ‘Pehli Baar Mile Hain’ song from his movie ’Saajan’.
“I am very happy to see Salman and feel like all my wishes have come. The gigs by AR Rahman were mesmerising. I also loved the way Salman said ‘mu tumaku bhala paye’, said a fan.
“I loved the people and children here. The show was all good here and yesterday too we had a great programme,” said Rahman adding that he will come to Odisha soon for visiting the tribal areas of the State.
CM Naveen Patnaik also felicitated the members of the 1975 Hockey World Cup winning team with silver filigree miniature Hockey mementos.
