Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam’s courtroom drama Haq has been earning widespread acclaim, with audiences and industry insiders praising its gripping narrative, powerful performances, and Suparn S Varma’s compelling direction. After receiving widespread appreciation from industry peers and audiences alike, Varma has expressed heartfelt gratitude.

Suparn S Varma Reacts to Celebrity Love
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Suparn shared a long, emotional note thanking celebrities who publicly praised Haq. He wrote that receiving love from both peers and audiences is “the stuff dreams are made of.” On behalf of the entire Haq team, he acknowledged the overwhelming feeling of waking up to appreciation posts from Farah Khan, Kiara Advani, and Alia Bhatt, and ending the day with generous praise from Karan Johar.
He further added that as artists, moments like these are deeply cherished, calling the response to Haq across the world incredibly humbling. Highlighting the sense of unity within the film industry, Suparn noted that mutual respect and a shared passion for cinema continue to bind filmmakers together.
What Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt Said
Karan Johar, in his glowing Instagram review, admitted that Haq moved him to tears. He praised the film’s emotional impact and said he regretted not watching it in theatres. Calling Yami Gautam’s performance “brilliant, outstanding and pathbreaking,” he highlighted her silences, stares and final monologue as a masterclass in acting.
Alia Bhatt, meanwhile, called Yami “pure craft, heart and all things gold,” describing her performance in Haq as one of the finest female performances she has ever seen. She also shared that she personally conveyed her admiration to Yami over a phone call.

All About Haq
Haq is inspired by the landmark 1985 Supreme Court judgment in the Shah Bano case, formally known as Mohd. Ahmed Khan vs Shah Bano Begum. The film traces Shah Bano’s fight for maintenance rights under Section 125 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, a case that reshaped conversations around women’s rights in India.
Produced by Junglee Pictures, the film released theatrically on November 7, 2025, collecting ₹29 crore worldwide, and is currently streaming on Netflix.
