Dhurandhar has firmly established itself as one of the biggest blockbusters in recent times, turning director Aditya Dhar and star Ranveer Singh into the toast of the nation.

The spy thriller’s massive box office success has only fuelled excitement for its sequel, Dhurandhar 2. Amid rumours of a possible postponement to avoid a box office clash, Dhar has now put all speculation to rest by confirming that the film will release in March 2026 as planned.

Aditya Dhar addresses release delay rumours

Speculation around Dhurandhar 2’s release date began when reports suggested the makers might push the sequel to avoid clashing with Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups. However, Aditya Dhar reassured fans that there is no delay.

The confirmation came through an Instagram interaction. Fans who watched Dhurandhar multiple times in theatres flooded Dhar’s Instagram Stories with praise. One fan called him a “GOAT director” and expressed excitement for the sequel. Reposting the message, Dhar responded warmly, writing, “So sweet! Thanks! See you in cinemas on 19th March!”—a clear indication that the March 2026 release remains intact.

What to expect from Dhurandhar 2

Helmed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar draws inspiration from real-life geopolitical events, including the 1999 IC-814 hijacking, the 2001 Indian Parliament attack and the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. The sequel is expected to dig deeper into Ranveer Singh’s character Hamza, focusing on his backstory, his rise in Lyari, and the culmination of his covert anti-terror operation.

Apart from Ranveer Singh, the film also features a strong ensemble cast including Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan and Rakesh Bedi, adding to the anticipation around the sequel.

Box office clash with Yash’s Toxic

Dhurandhar 2 is set to clash with Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, a period gangster drama marking Yash’s return to the big screen after KGF: Chapter 2. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic boasts an ensemble cast featuring Rukmini Vasanth, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Akshay Oberoi and Sudev Nair.
