After the phenomenal success of Vivah (2006), Amrita Rao became a household name, adored for her simplicity and girl-next-door charm. But behind the glossy fame lay unsettling experiences, unsolicited marriage proposals, and a personal struggle that pushed her into a lonely space until love and stability came her way.
Unwanted Attention After Vivah
In a candid chat with Ranveer Allahbadia, Amrita revealed how Vivah’s blockbuster success brought her bizarre fan encounters. She received countless marriage proposals, especially from NRIs, who even sent family pictures with their cars and pets. Some admirers went overboard letters written in blood and strangers loitering near her house left her family worried. “It got a little much,” she recalled.
Creative Struggles and Isolation
Even as she enjoyed stardom, Amrita felt trapped creatively. Big offers came with conditions she wasn’t comfortable with. “Why do I only get offers with a glitch?” she wondered. The pressure and criticism made her withdraw from the industry’s social circuit. Award shows, parties, and appearances took a backseat as she sought peace in simply working and returning home.

A Comeback on the Big Screen
After a brief hiatus, Amrita is set to return in Jolly LLB 3, reprising her role as Sandhya. Her comeback marks a new chapter one that blends professional revival with personal fulfilment.
From navigating fame’s dark side to finding grounding in love, Amrita Rao’s journey is a reminder that resilience, patience, and staying true to one’s values can lead to both peace and purpose.
