A day after Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi accused the previous BJD government of selling Assistant Section Officer (ASO) jobs for Rs 30 lakh while presenting the Odisha Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill 2024 in the State Assembly, job aspirants here have demanded a CBI probe into the alleged job scam.

Expressing concerns over CM Majhi’s statement, the students have said that their futures have been pushed into the bleak. 

“Over 5.5 lakh job aspirants have been protesting since last two months demanding cancellation of RI, Amin recruitment examination conducted by OSSSC. This is a very sensitive matter. There are many candidates who studying hard for 12-13 hours and rely on Rs 5 Aahaar meal to shape their dreams. The aspirants should get justice. If this continues, the protest will be intensified,” said a job aspirant.

Echoing the same, another job aspirant said, “I have come across several news where the middlemen were arrested for demanding money to facilitate a government job. I welcome the move by CM Majhi. CBI should investigate the job scam done during the previous BJD government.”

It is worthwhile to mention here that CM Majhi launched a scathing attack on the previous BJD government while presenting the Odisha Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill 2024 in the Assembly on Friday and accused the former BJD government of misleading the future of students in the State. 

"Irregularities in recruitment practices extended into the state's secretariat as well. Assistant Section Officer (ASO) jobs were sold at Rs 25 to Rs 30 lakh each," CM Majhi had said.
