Former Bigg Boss contestant Shehnaaz Gill’s brother, Shehbaz Badesha, seems to be riding a wave of borrowed fame yet again. During Diwali, he wore a black kurta almost identical to the one the late Sidharth Shukla wore in 2020. Fans quickly noticed, calling it a “tribute.” But what started as admiration soon spiraled into outrage.

The Controversial Statement That Ignited the Backlash
During the recent Bigg Boss 19’s Weekend Ka Vaar episode, Shehbaz’s overconfidence took center stage.
During a chat with Amaal Mallik, Shehbaz said, "Mujhe bigg boss ke nomination me ane do Dekhte hain fir kya hota he."
To this, Amaal casually replied, "Ayenge sab..."
But Shehbaz’s next line shocked many. "Sidharth ke fan baithe hain bahar mere saath. Jo winner hai na iss show ka, mere saath fan following baithi hai usko," he said.
This one statement was enough to trigger Sidharth Shukla’s loyal fanbase, who didn’t take kindly to what they saw as cheap name-dropping for attention.
Fans Call Out Shehbaz’s “Overconfidence”
Soon after the episode aired, social media exploded with angry comments. An X user fumed, "Many of us loved #SidharthShukla not from BiggBoss but from Balika Vadhu Era!! How can #ShehbazBadesha claim that fans of Sid will vote for him?? Haadh hain!!! I am surprised he can even use Sid’s name like this!!! #BiggBoss19" (sic)
Another took a harsher tone: "Banda duniya chhod gya, ye log uska naam lena nhi chhod rahe. Inka ghar bhi Sidharth ke naam se chal raha hai #ShehbazBadesha | #BiggBoss19." (sic)
And one more brutally remarked, "Kon he ye log… kaha se aate he ye log. Har season ek joker ke bina adhoora lagta tha — aur lo, Shehbaz ne iss saal ka circus poora kar diya!" (sic)
From being called “unnecessarily confident” to a “joker completing the circus,” Shehbaz’s comments have clearly done more harm than good.
Blind Support Still Exists!
Of course, a handful of Shehnaaz and Sidharth fans came forward to defend him. One fan wrote, "#ShehbazBadesha is absolutely right , i am Siddharth shukla fan and i love #ShehbazBadesha." (sic)
Another echoed similar sentiments: "As Sid's fan, I'm rooting for Shehbaz." (sic)
And yet another justified it sentimentally, "Ma bhi sidharth fan hu Q nahi Shahbaaz kow support karu Q kei agar aj Sid hota to definitely Shehbaaz kow support karta." (sic)
Still, the overall tone on social media remains harsh and critical, with many viewers branding Shehbaz’s behaviour as attention-seeking and distasteful.

A Desperate Move Gone Wrong?
What might have been intended as a sweet homage to Sidharth Shukla has backfired badly. Instead of gaining goodwill, Shehbaz Badesha stands accused of exploiting the late actor’s legacy to win sympathy and votes on Bigg Boss.
