New Delhi: DJ Neil Armstrong, who was the tour disc jockey for hip hop mogul Jay Z and performed at US President Barack Obama`s inauguration ball, says Bhangra is quite popular in New York and a big influence in music.

Neil, who lives and works in the Big Apple said the Indian community has a sizeable presence in the city and Bhangra has influenced even the art the of DJ-ing.

"New York is just a huge melting pot. The Indian community has a sizeable presence and I have many friends who listen to or spin Bhangra," Armstrong told PTI in an email interview.

He performs at Brooklyn Bowl the first Friday of every month, but Neil is skipping New York this month to entertain party-goers in three cities here on his maiden visit to India.

"This will be my first time ever in India. When playing for a brand new crowd you never know what to expect, but I do know that Indian people love to dance!"

The master of Turntablism, who has shared stage with the likes of R&B stars Rihanna, Beyonce, Kanye West, Swiss Beats, Puff Daddy, Timbaland, as well as rock bands Coldplay and Linkin`` Park, will be performing live in New Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai as part of the Tuborg VH1 Hip Hop Hustle.

Neil is also eager to have a look around the country and visit historical places.
"I would love to see the Taj Mahal and of course one of the perks of my job is getting to experience the cultures and sites of the world," said Neil, who will be performing in the national capital on June 4.
