Kolkata: After its critical acclaim at home and abroad at different film festivals, the world launch of the DVD of ace director Aparna Sen`s `Iti Mrinalini` took place at a city book store.

"I am very happy with the work of Debu, ace music composer Debojyoti Misra. The film was possible because of everybody involved including Debu," Sen said as Misra was present at the DVD launch programme at a city book store here on Sunday. "It`s an honor to work with Rinadi (as Sen is called). And I will be happy to be part of any future project of a director of her calibre," Mishra said.

Turning to the issue of CD piracy, Sen said, "Hope those who would like to see this film now, will buy this original DVD and thus help fight piracy," Sen said at the launch.

Sen expressed happiness the way the film was received globally and by the people here and said people living abroad, not having seen the film, would now be able to share the experience of local audience.

The DVD also comprises details about the making of the film and first person accounts of the director-actor and her talented daughter-actor Konkona Sen Sharma about their respective roles. Sen plays the older Mrinalini while Konkona portrays the younger version.

Produced by Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni of Shree Venkatesh Films Pvt Ltd, in `Iti Mrinalini` Sen experiments with the popular genre, focusing on the life and times of a Bengali star-actress of mainstream cinema of yesteryear, who looks back at her life.

The film had got rave reviews at the 12th MAMI International Film Festival 2010, had its world premiere at the Cairo International Film Festival, 2010, had the European premier in the River to River. Florence Indian Film Festival in December 2010, was screened at Slamdance Film Festival, the Annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, 2011, which marked the USA premiere of the film.
