Anupamaa: Kuldeep Singh joins Rupali Ganguly’s show in a striking comeback to television

As excitement builds around Gaurav Khanna’s rumoured return as Anuj Kapadia in Anupamaa, another major entry has already grabbed attention. Kuldeep Singh- known for his impactful work in Vighnaharta Ganesh and Laal Banarasi- has stepped back into the television world after a hiatus he took in 2022 to explore films, OTT, and even establish his own production house.

Following his stint in Raisinghani vs Raisinghani, the actor is now making a strong return with Rajan Shahi’s widely loved family drama Anupamaa, led by Rupali Ganguly. Kuldeep essays the role of Professor Diwakar, a character layered with emotional complexities.

‘This Project Feels Like the Best Comeback’

Speaking to ETimes, Kuldeep shared his excitement. He was quoted as saying, "I am returning to television after almost three years with Anupamaa. This project feels like the best comeback. The show is performing very well and I am playing a mature and layered professor."

Calling this role distinctly different from his earlier performances, he added, "I am looking forward to positive audience feedback."

A Complicated Professor With an Emotional Conflict

Kuldeep also opened up about the intriguing storyline around his character. He plays a professor at Rahi’s (Adrija Roy) college- an academically strict yet emotionally conflicted man who finds himself increasingly invested in Rahi’s presence. Despite being married, he begins to feel an emotional pull toward her and notices her absence more than he should.

Things take a dramatic turn when he decides to visit her home out of concern.

Kuldeep explains, "One day, worried about her absence, he visits her home under the pretext of teaching her. Rahi is startled and nervous about what her family might think but she manages the situation by clarifying that he is there only to tutor her. Even though Rahi has no inappropriate intentions, her family begins to grow suspicious about the professor's visits and question why a young teacher is coming home to tutor their daughter."
