Amaal Mallik breaks silence on link-up rumours, apologises to Tanya Mittal, appeals for an end to buzz

Music composer Amaal Mallik has finally addressed the intense speculation around his equation with fellow Bigg Boss 19 contestant Tanya Mittal. After the show wrapped up, social media was flooded with clips and theories linking the two romantically- claims Amaal has now firmly dismissed.

‘It Was a Task, Not a Love Story’

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Amaal Mallik clarified that what audiences saw on screen was largely shaped by the format of the reality show and its creative demands, not by personal intent. Notably, the chatter reignited after fans shared videos of Amaal and Tanya dancing together on the show.

Responding directly, Amaal explained that such moments are often pre-planned and task-oriented.

“Bhai yeh ek ‘TASK’ tha (Brother, this was a task),” he wrote, stressing that contestants are expected to follow instructions given by the host or visiting guests. According to him, pairing up for dance segments or skits is frequently part of the channel’s creative direction and should not be twisted into “nonsensical romance.”

Acknowledging Support and Offering an Apology

Amaal also spoke about Tanya’s role during emotionally difficult phases of the season, acknowledging the support she extended when he was struggling. In a moment of candour, he apologised for any actions or remarks that may have caused hurt.

“I am truly sorry for whatever I did in anger and to poke her,” he said, adding that such experiences become lessons in introspection and personal growth.

A Call for Boundaries and Respect

Urging fans to step back from assumptions, Amaal warned that relentless speculation could unfairly impact Tanya’s public image. He emphasised that friendship, teamwork, or mutual respect should not automatically be labelled as romance.

“So I request you all to please stop linking us & expecting us to be interacting in a certain way,” he wrote, appealing to both fan groups to end online mudslinging and respect individual boundaries.

In the initial weeks of Bigg Boss 19, Amaal and Tanya were often seen together, with Tanya frequently offering emotional reassurance. Their visible camaraderie quickly became a talking point among viewers, eventually snowballing into rumours of a possible relationship- claims Amaal has now categorically denied.

Notably, a few days back, Tanya Mittal had also addressed the swirling rumours. In a candid chat with Times Now, she dismissed claims that she kissed Amaal Mallik’s photo during a task, firmly denying any romantic intent. Speaking openly, Tanya said she has never shied away from expressing her emotions and made it clear that had she been in love, she would have admitted it without fear, adding that she saw no reason to fake or hide feelings that did not exist.
