Bumrah’s efforts equalled the record for most wickets in an India-Australia Test series, matching Harbhajan Singh’s tally of 32 during the 2000/01 series in India. He also surpassed Bishen Singh Bedi’s record of 31 wickets during a single Test tour to Australia, a feat achieved in 1977/78.
Bumrah’s series haul included exceptional performances: 8/72 in Perth, 4/63 in Adelaide, 9/94 in Brisbane, and 9/156 in Melbourne. Although he claimed only three wickets in Sydney, his impact on the series was undeniable.
With the ICC Champions Trophy set to begin on February 19, 2025, India’s management will need to provide Bumrah with well-deserved rest to ensure he is fully fit for the tournament. For now, Bumrah’s brilliance remains the shining light in an otherwise disappointing series for India.
