Fans and audiences were shocked when news of Kartik Aaryan being replaced from the Dostana sequel hit the surface. After a lot of rumors doing rounds, Dharma Productions confirmed that they will be recasting another actor which was to be originally played by Kartik Aaryan. Now, the latest buzz states that Khiladi Akshay Kumar is in talks to fill in the shoes of Kartik in Dostana 2.
As per the latest reports, after incurring a loss, filmmaker Karan Johar has personally requested Akshay Kumar to come on board for the romantic comedy sequel. “Karan Johar has personally requested Akshay to come on board Dostana 2 and help him out, as lots of money has already been invested in the shoot of the film. So, in all likelihood, Akshay will join the cast” wrote HT City while quoting an insider. There are some whispers doing rounds that not Akshay Kumar but Varun Dhawan who is actually being considered to be re-casted for the role.
For the uninitiated, Kartik was fired from the Dharma Productions film reportedly due to the creative differences and the star’s “unprofessional behavior”. Dharma replaced the actor in the Dostana sequel and had started looking for someone so they can start from scratch. Only after the insider news came out, Dharma Productions decided to announce the same to avoid any more rumors. It is also reported that Dharma Productions and Karan Johar’s other productions have decided never to work with the Punchnama baby ever again.
The shooting of Dostana 2 was underway and Kartik Aaryan had already shot 20 days of shoot for the film. It is rare to see a lead star being replaced by production midway which is why most fans and audiences were left shocked when the official confirmation was done.
A romantic comedy, Dostana 2 had three lead stars at the start, with Kartik out of the picture, Janhvi Kapoor, and debutant Laksh Lalwani are still part of the Dharma film.
