Mumbai: Actor Akshay Kumar held a special screening of his latest release `Thank You` for Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper at a theatre in Brampton.

The screening was held on Friday. This was the first ever Hindi film that the Canadian premier has watched and Akshay was super excited about it.

Akshay plays an Indo-Canadian detective in `Thank You` and hence the movie was shot in Canada. This was one of the major reasons why the actor was keen that the PM watch the film, which hit the screens on April 8.

The actor, who continues to be the Canadian Tourism Commission`s ambassador for India for the second year, will promote Canada in this country as a tourist destination and has the highest regard for the PM, sources said.

"Harper wants Indo-Canadian relations to improve and Akshay welcomes that," they said.
