Hyderabad: Ajith Kumar, Nayanthara's 'Viswasam' and Rajinikanth's 'Petta' released last month during Pongal. Both the movies performed well at the box office. However, Thala Ajith gave a record breaking blockbuster movie- Viswasam surpassing Petta in domestic collection.
Reportedly, Viswasam became the first single language movie in 2019 with more than Rs 130 crore domestic box office collection.

Moreover, Viswasam outshines the lifetime collection of '2.0' which rewrites the box office collection history in Tamil Nadu. With the movie's success, Ajith has become the only actor to beat Rajinikanth (in last 27 years) in the domestic box office collection after Kamal Hassan's 'Thevar Magan' had outwitted 'Pandian' in 1992.
Siva directed the movie which also features Nayanthara and Sakshi Agarwal among others alongside Thala Ajith and Jagapathi Babu as the antagonist. Viswasam has entered its seventh week with a continual success as the fans are still flocking at the ticket windows. Viswasam is the fourth venture of the duo- Ajith and Siva after Veeram, Vedalam and Vivegam.
The Telugu version of the movie hit the screens on March 1. The movie will also get dubbed in Kannada and hit the silver screens in Karnataka. Studio Horizon and Hariyu Creations will reportedly distribute the film.
On the other hand, Ajith is gearing up for his next movie which is a remake of 2016's Indian social thriller and critically acclaimed film 'Pink' with Boney Kapoor as the producer and H Vinoth as the director.
