Aditya Dhar, Ranveer Singh to join hands for new mythological action film after ‘Dhurandhar’
Filmmaker Aditya Dhar has officially moved on from his long-anticipated mythological project ‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’, which was originally to star Vicky Kaushal. Unfortunately, the film had to be shelved due to budgetary constraints and production challenges.
Sources say there are currently no plans to revive that film, as Dhar looks ahead to fresh creative ventures following his recent success.
The Immortal Ashwatthama
‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’ was conceived as a high-concept retelling of the Mahabharata character’s journey, blending mythic storytelling with ambitious visual effects. Despite early announcements and development, the project was stalled over financial concerns, prompting Dhar to put it on the back burner and eventually abandon it for the time being.

Meanwhile, with the blockbuster success of ‘Dhurandhar’, starring Ranveer Singh, Dhar has strengthened his position in Bollywood. The spy thriller’s major performance has set the stage for his next phase, and industry buzz suggests he could now be developing a brand-new mythological action film with Ranveer in the lead.
Focus On Dhurandhar: The Revenge
Reports indicate that Dhar has renewed his first-look deal with Jio Studios, which is expected to back his upcoming projects, including the potential new mythological epic. At present, Dhar is focused on completing Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the sequel to last year’s hit, which is slated for a March 19, 2026, theatrical release.
Speculation about his next project continues, but concrete details on the new mythological action film, including official confirmation of Ranveer Singh’s involvement, are yet to be announced.
