The millennium city of Cuttack is on the brink of a major urban transformation. Plans are underway to extend the city's borders to the state capital, Bhubaneswar. The initiative is being led by the Cuttack Development Authority (CDA).
Official sources said that the CDA is contemplating bringing urban amenities and integrating 102 nearby villages under its jurisdiction.
Following an extensive survey, the CDA officials have submitted a detailed proposal to the Odisha government.

A comprehensive master plan is in place to manage the urbanisation of these rural areas, focusing on vital infrastructure upgrades. These enhancements include access to clean drinking water, a reliable electricity supply, efficient drainage systems, and improved road networks.
This is not the first instance of expansion for the CDA. Previously, 287 villages from the Banki and Cuttack-Sadar constituencies were integrated into CDA jurisdiction. The current efforts reflect a continued commitment to enhancing connectivity and living standards in the region.
