Bhubaneswar/ New Delhi: The last date of online registration for Junior Engineer Examination 2017 is November 17, 2017, i.e. tomorrow. Interested and eligible candidates, who have not applied yet, must apply soon.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) had released a notification regarding the recruitment of junior engineers. The recruitment examination will take place from January 5 to January 8, 2018 and candidates can apply for the same on the official website ssc.nic.in.

Application fee:

Applicants will have to pay Rs 100 for each application form through online mode ( via Net Banking, Debit Card and Credit Card) and for offline mode, it can be paid via SBI challan. However, SC/ST/PH/Female/Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from payment of application fees.

Selection process:

Candidates who clear the computer-based examination (Paper-I) will be called for the conventional type or written examination (Paper-II).

Further, candidates will be shortlisted and recommended for appointment on the basis of their total marks in the Paper I and II and their preference for the posts.

The examination will be conducted for civil, mechanical, electrical, quantity surveying and contract engineers.

Paper Pattern & Scheme of Examination:

There examination consists of two papers. Paper 1 will be objective while paper 2 will include conventional type questions.

The Paper 1 exam will be of 200 marks, two hours duration and of objective nature. It will include questions of general intelligence reasoning, general awareness, general engineering (civil and structural/electrical/mechanical). It will be for 200 marks.

The candidates will get questions of 50 marks on general intelligence and reasoning, 50 marks on general awareness and 100 marks on general engineering (civil and structural) or general engineering (electrical) or general engineering (mechanical). In the general engineering section, candidates will be required to attempt only the part as opted by them during filling of the application form. This will be conducted in two shifts in the morning (10 am to 12 noon) and in the afternoon (2 pm to 4 pm).

Note: Candidates will lose 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

Paper 2 will be a written examination and the exam will include questions on general engineering for 300 marks which candidates will have 2 hours to answer. The tentative exam date for paper 2 has not yet been announced.

Steps to apply for SSC Junior Engineer recruitment 2017:

  • Go to the official website for the SSC as mentioned above.
  • Click on the tab to “apply”.
  • Click on “JE”.
  • Follow the link provided.
  • Register to the site and apply online.
  • Take a print out and save a copy of the application form for further reference.
