The annual Matriculation examinations in Odisha will commence on February 19, with as many as 5,61,979 students set to appear for the High School Certificate (HSC) examinations across the State this year.

According to officials, the examinations will be conducted at 3,082 centres statewide, with elaborate arrangements put in place to ensure smooth and fair conduct.

CCTV Surveillance at All Centres

In a major step to enhance transparency and curb malpractice, all examination centres will remain under CCTV surveillance. The entire examination process will be monitored live from the Board’s central command and control room, enabling authorities to maintain strict oversight.

Officials said the move is aimed at ensuring a fair and transparent examination environment for students.

Expert Backs CBSE Supplementary Policy

Amid concerns about exam-related stress among students, noted educationist R. N. Panda expressed confidence in the candidates.

“Students have worked hard for the board examinations; they will surely do well,” Panda said.

Commenting on the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) supplementary examination policy, Panda described it as a positive and student-friendly initiative.

“If students are unable to perform well in subjects such as English, Science, Social Studies, and Languages, they can appear for supplementary examinations. The improved scores will be added to their results. This is a very good initiative by CBSE,” he said.

Appeal to Students

Educationists and lecturers have urged students to remain calm and focused during the examination period, advising them to avoid stress and adhere to a disciplined study routine.

With comprehensive monitoring mechanisms in place and preparations nearing completion, authorities expressed confidence that the examinations will be conducted smoothly across Odisha.
