New Delhi: In a big decision, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has approved reservation facilities for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) for the Stage II of national level of National Talent Search Exam.

The necessary changes will be effective from the academic session of 2019.

The ministry is also mulling to increase the number of scholarships by double. At present the number of scholarships being presented is 1000.

NTSE is conducted every year by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

It is to be noted that the MHRD has hiked the scholarship amount to Rs 1250 from this year for class XI and Class XII and Rs 2000 for UG, PG students.

Presently, SC candidates are entitled to 15% reservation while there is 7.5% reservation in case of ST category and 4% quota has been kept aside for physically challenged students.

NTSE 2018 will be held on 13 May 2018 at 36 centres across the country. The last date for submission of application for the national level exam is 31 December 2017.

The exam will comprise three papers, Mental Ability Test, Language Test and Scholastic Aptitude Test. While general candidates have to secure 40% for qualifying, it is 32% for other category.
