CBSE To Revise Syllabus For Classes 9-12, Check the Syllabi

Bhubaneswar: The Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE) will soon revise the syllabus for students of classes 9 to 12 ‘due to the extraordinary situation prevailing in the country and different parts of the world’.

“…the efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19 pandemic have resulted in the loss of classroom teaching due to the closure of schools. Therefore, the Board has decided to revise the syllabi for classes IX-XII for the academic session 2020-21.

The changes made in the syllabi have been finalised by the respective Course Committees with the approval of the Curriculum Committee and Governing Body of the Board,” a CBSE release read.

“Considering the importance of achieving the level of learning, the syllabus has been rationalised to the extent possible by retaining the core concepts,” it read.

The Heads of Schools and Teachers may ensure that the topics that have been reduced are also explained to the students to the extent required to connect different topics.

However, the reduced syllabus will not be part of the topics for ‘Internal Assessment and year-end Board Examination’. Alternative Academic Calendar and inputs from the NCERT on transacting the curriculum using different strategies may also be part of the teaching pedagogy, it stated.

For Elementary Classes (1-VIII), schools may follow the Alternative Academic Calendar and Learning Outcomes specified by NCERT, it added.

Meanwhile, CBSE has shared the link of the revised syllabi. It is available at: http://cbseacademic.nic.in/Revisedcurriculum 2021.html
