CBSE Class 10, 12 Exam 2020: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has already started the process for filling the application forms for CBSE Board Examination 2020 in its affiliated schools.

This year for the first time, the CBSE has introduced two separate examinations for Mathematics- Basic and Standard in Class 10 board examination which is scheduled to be held in February, 2020. The Board has also given students an option to choose one of the two versions of exams.

Problems In Taking Basic Maths As An Option

In order to help the students and their parents, TimesNowNews.Com in its recent article, has pointed certain things listed by the CBSE teachers and experts if one chooses Basic Mathematics as an option.

The curriculum for Mathematics Standard and Mathematics Basic will remain the same. All the schools would continue to teach the same curriculum, like the General Mathematics. However, the level of question paper for the students who choose Mathematic Basic will be easier than the Mathematics Standard. That means, a student who chooses basic level exam for Mathematics and wish to discontinue Mathematics in senior secondary level will have to face a comparatively easier paper in the exam.

Though the CBSE has clarified most of the queries, there are certain concerns related to this. Teachers are in doubt that students who opt for Basic Mathematics may face problems if they wish to change the board during the admission of Class 11.

The CBSE is yet to release any official clarification in this regard. However, when the other boards were contacted regarding the validity of Basic Mathematics by some CBSE affiliated school, they also denied giving any clarification, reported TimesNowNew.Com.

On the other hand, the students who choose Basic Mathematics would be able to continue and take computers in Class 11 and 12. Students who take Basic Mathematics, if change their mind also have the option to appear Standard Mathematics examination with the compartment examinations conducted in the month of July but they should clear the Basic Mathematics examination scheduled in February – March.

Teachers in the meantime are advising students and their parents to carefully go through the FAQs regarding Basic Mathematics shared by CBSE before taking the decision of choosing Basic Mathematics or Standard mathematics. Schools are also taking the consent of the parents in writing regarding their decision to take Basic Mathematics over Standard Mathematics.

Therefore, it is advisable for the parents to go through the examination form carefully and check the details as getting them corrected in the later date may create problem. Similarly, in case a student wants to change his/er board in Class 11, his/er parents should contact the respective board in this regard and seek clarity on the validity of Basic Mathematics as a subject.
