Amid Middle East tensions, CBSE postpones Class XII exams; new dates awaited
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Saturday announced the postponement of Class XII board examinations scheduled in several Middle East countries, citing the need to review the prevailing situation in the region.
New Dates Awaited
According to a circular issued by CBSE on March 7, 2026, the board has decided to postpone the Class XII examinations scheduled for March 9, 10, and 11, 2026 for schools affiliated with CBSE in the Middle East. The decision affects students studying in CBSE schools located in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

The board said the move was taken after a critical review of the current situation in parts of the Middle East. CBSE officials added that new dates for the postponed examinations will be announced later.
Appropriate Decisions Soon
In the circular, the board further stated that the situation will be reviewed again on March 10, 2026, following which appropriate decisions will be taken regarding examinations scheduled from March 12 onwards.
CBSE has advised all affected students to remain in contact with their respective schools for further updates and follow official announcements carefully.
The circular has been issued to principals of CBSE-affiliated schools in the affected countries and shared with Indian diplomatic missions in the region to ensure timely communication with students and institutions.
