Veteran batter Rohit Sharma is currently struggling with his form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). Though there is a question mark over Rohit's inclusion in the Indian Test squad, sources reveal that Rohit Sharma is likely to head England for the upcoming Test series.

Initially, his position in the team seemed uncertain after India’s lop-sided defeat against hosts Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, following Champions Trophy win under his leadership, Rohit has rejuvenated his chance again to captain India.

As the five-Test series against England approaches, veteran cricketer Rohit is favoured to be the captain of the Indian squad again. India will look for its first series victory in England in 18 years.

Several experts have thrown their weight behind Rohit to be the captain of Indian Test squad during the Engalnd tour.

Clarke bats for Rohit

Former Australia captain Michael Clarke has also batted for Rohit Sharma to remain in the squad as the captain.

As a Test opener in Australia, Rohit struggled and could manage just 31 runs from three Tests. According to Clarke, Rohit’s batting order should be changed during the Test series against England.

"I think Rohit still has the game. Class is permanent, and you have seen that in the Champions Trophy final. He would be an ideal No. 5. He can face the second new ball if needed, and if there are early wickets, he can hold things up as well. But Rohit loves to open and can blunt the new ball as well. If I was an Indian selector, I’d pick Rohit for England as the captain and leader," said Clarke.
