In a daring daylight heist, four armed miscreants allegedly looted over Rs 7.55 lakh from the AU Small Finance Bank located in Tihidi Bazaar area of Bhadrak district on Thursday.
As per the allegations, the robbers entered the bank wearing masks and held the bank manager at gunpoint while demanding cash. Creating panic among the staff and customers, they swiftly collected the money and fled the scene before police could reach the spot.
The entire act was executed in just a few minutes, leaving the bank employees in shock. An FIR has been lodged. Tihidi police have begun an investigation into the incident, sources added.
Meanwhile, Tihidi police have launched a manhunt to trace the culprits using CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts.
Odisha Gramya Bank in Keonjhar Also Looted
In another incident, armed miscreants allegedly looted Odisha Gramya Bank in Joda town in Keonjhar on Thursday. The incident took place during the daytime, spreading panic among bank staff and customers.
According to reports, five armed robbers stormed into the bank, brandished firearms, and threatened employees. Under duress, the bank staff were forced to hand over cash and gold ornaments, said sources.
The dacoits reportedly managed to flee the spot with an estimated loot of around Rs 10 lakh in cash and gold jewellery.
Soon after the incident, Joda police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. CCTV footage from the bank and nearby establishments was being examined to identify the culprits.
