In a significant development in the gruesome Balanga minor girl burning case, the Puri Police are preparing to record the survivor’s statement, which could provide a crucial breakthrough in the investigation. 

The statement will be recorded at AIIMS, New Delhi, where the girl is currently undergoing treatment in critical condition.

According to sources, a team comprising Puri Police and Crime Branch official will soon visit Delhi to speak to the victim, once her health stabilises. The girl's statement holds immense value in identifying the accused and uncovering the motive behind the shocking crime.

Sources said, thought there is no official order, Crime Branch has started investigation into the matter. A team of the probing agency visited the spot and started a probe.

An official of Crime Branch and Puri police will visit Delhi AIIMS to record the statement of the victim, sources added.

Meanwhile, even after four days after the incident, police are yet to arrest any of the three individuals named by the minor girl before being airlifted to Delhi.

A five-member Crime Branch team visited Balanga police station to assess the investigation’s progress and also met the person who had rescued the girl in a severely burnt state.

So far, there’s no official confirmation about who set the girl on fire or why such a barbaric act was committed. The investigation is ongoing, with multiple rounds of questioning being conducted involving the survivor's family, friends, and the rescuer.

Meanwhile, treatment of the critically injured girl continues at AIIMS Delhi under intensive care.
