Students have the fundamental right to access their evaluated answer-sheets under the Right to Information Act and they can't be charged for it. This was an order of the Supreme Court to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in 2016.

However, bypassing the law of the apex court, CBSE had reportedly published a notification prescribing fee of Rs 1,200 for students of 12th and Rs 1,000 for Class 10th students to obtain the evaluated answer-sheets.
