The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to come up with a change in the Class 10 board exams in 2019.
Meanwhile, students will have to make the choice during filling of forms for the exam later this year, HT reported citing officials familiar with the development.
Depending on the success of the above plan, the Board may introduce the same system in Class 12. Moreover, a 15-member committee has reportedly been formed comprising mathematics experts and others to look into it.

“The National Curriculum Framework (NCF) document states that all subjects should be examined at two levels by the board, beginning with maths and English. It also said that students should have the choice between higher and standard level,” HT quoted a maths expert as saying.
Meanwhile, the board exams of Class 10 and Class 12 students (opting vocational subjects) are likely to begin in February next year.
