Accusations against the block chairperson
According to sources, the Vice-Chairperson and other committee members allege that Goladi has opted to operate independently, ignoring collective decisions made for the community's welfare. It is claimed that he acts in the capacity of a contractor, circumventing established procedures and bypassing the roles of elected officials, including committee members and local leaders including sarpanchs.
Exasperated by the lack of response to previous complaints, community leaders have once again approached the Sub-Collector. They have indicated their readiness to propose a no-confidence motion should no corrective measures be undertaken.
At present, Goladi has not issued any statement in response to these accusations.
“The issue relates to zilla parishad and the block (Narayanpatna). They (the complainants) have submitted a written grievance to the Sub-Collector. Thorough proper channel, the matter will be taken up to the Department higher-ups and steps will be taken according to their subsequent direction in this regard,” Sub-Collector Premlal Hial said.
Worth mentioning, earlier in a political shift, Sangeeta Pingua was removed as chairperson of Byasanagar Municipality in Jajpur district on Wednesday following a no-confidence vote orchestrated by her own party, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Sangeeta faced 20 votes against her, demonstrating a significant faction within the BJD. At least six councillors were absent from the vote, highlighting internal discord.
