Bhubaneswar: While the Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank is likely to interact with teachers today regarding the CBSE board exam dates, demands to postpone the exam in view of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to grow louder.
"We need more time to study as our classes were delayed due to the pandemic. The syllabus is yet to be completed in school and it seems that the course will not be completed by March. The government must consider our demand and postpone the exam at least by 60 days," said a student.
Enough time should be given to complete and revise the syllabus. Even though the syllabus has been reduced, the remaining needs more time for revision, said another student adding, "How can we attempt the exam without completing the syllabus?"
"Online classes were not that effective- not even 30 per cent if compared to the offline classes. We have been going through a lot of problems from the network speed issue to doubt clear by teachers. Exams should be deferred to June or July considering the problems being faced by us," said a CBSE class 12 student.
Meanwhile, several schools have reportedly started conducting the pre-board exams in online mode even though the Ministry of Education (MoE) is yet to decide on the CBSE board exam dates and has already clarified that the exams will be held offline mode only.
"We have complete the academic syllabi for the board classes. We are now conducting the exams in online mode but are also exploring measures to hold physical exams next month to ensure that students are fully prepared ahead of the CBSE board exams," said a teacher.
Pokhriyal had earlier said that online education has become a big challenge for students who have not attended schools and colleges for the last nine months owing to pandemic but they should always be ready to turn this challenge into an opportunity.
