Footage from inside the Puri Srimandir has surfaced on social media, sparking outrage and raising serious concerns over security lapses. The viral visuals, reportedly captured within the temple premises, have prompted questions about how such recordings were made despite strict restrictions on photography and videography inside the shrine.

As per reports, the footage, shared by a young woman, includes views of the temple's west gate near the Nrusingha Temple, along with landmarks like the Puri Railway Station and the adjacent beach. Visibly prominent in the viral clip is the scene captured from the Nrusingha Temple facing the grand structure near the west gate.

Stringent Measures

The temple authorities have responded firmly by saying that necessary steps have been taken against similar breaches in the past. According to them, actions have been taken against those who have captured and shared unauthorised visuals of Srimandir in the past and similar steps will also be taken this time.

The District Collector of Puri has announced that a specialised Sri Jagannath Police Force will soon be formed to carry out more rigorous measures. This will include heightened police patrols and stricter enforcement of mobile phone restrictions within the temple complex.

This incident raises questions regarding privacy and respect for cultural sentiments among devotees and highlights the ongoing challenges in safeguarding religious sites from modern technological intrusions.

Thus stricter enforcement of mobile phone restrictions within the temple complex could be carried out," said Puri Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain.
